Axe - an arm length cleaving weapon that can also be thrown
Bayonet - blade attached to the muzzle of a musket
Boar Spear - used to hunt boar (Outlander, chapter 10)
Bow - used for hunting in the Highlands (Outlander, chapter 10) Jamie uses a bow to hunt deer during the time he lives in the cave (V, chapter 4)
Broadsword - a sword with a basket shaped guard to protect the hand. It has a wider blade than the rapier, hence the name.
Claymore - a two-handed longsword
Club - a solid short piece of wood
Culverin - a light cannon with a long barrel (DIA, chapter 46)
Dagger - a knife with a very sharp point for thrusting and stabbing
Dirk - a long thrusting dagger commonly carried by Highlanders
Flintlock pistol - most common type of pistol in the 18th century
Galloper gun - a small cannon mounted on a carriage that can be pulled by one horse at a speed fast enough to keep up with troops (DIA, chapter 36) Presumably the horse would be able to gallop while pulling the gun
Lochaber axe - a type of halberd. Claire wonders if Jamie was hit on the back of the head with a Lochaber axe (Outlander, chapter 7)
Marlinspike - One of the sailors stalking Jamie through the streets of Paris was armed with a marlinspike (DIA, chapter 12) A marlinspike is not a weapon but can be used as one. It is a tool used by sailors for ropework. As its name suggests it is a metal spike that looks like a large needle. Marlinspikes are usually between 6" and a foot long but can be as long as 2 feet
Musket - a muzzle-loaded firearm. A common weapon in the Highlands
Pistol - 18th century pistols were short range flintlock weapons which came in a variety of styles and sizes, ranging from 15-50cm long
Pitchforks - used as a weapon by some of the men in the Highland army (DIA, chapter 39)
Saber/Sabre - a sword that usually has a curved blade and with a large hand guard. It is a sabre that is used to cut off Fergus's hand (V, chapter 6)
Scythes - some of the men from Clan Fraser took scythes as weapons when they joined the Highland army (DIA, chapter 41)
Sgian Dhu - small single-edged knife used for similar purposes to a modern day pocket knife as well as for eating and food preparation. The sgian dhu is worn tucked into the top of the wearer's socks or hose
Skein Dhu - the spelling used for Sgian Dhu in Cross Stitch (ch. 11). Refer to Sgian Dhu
Snaphance pistol - the predecessor to the flintlock pistol
